The mission of Da African Village is to foster the cultural exchange between Africa and the world, as well as develop sustainable communities by way of commerce, community involvement, musical performances, and education. YES, WE CAN!
We are a small but influential group, attempting to provide a focal point for individuals and others who are committed to the health and well-being of the “family unit”. California-based, with a satellite office in Senegal, West Africa, Da’ African Village supports a nurturing environment in which issues can be discussed, ideas can be developed, and models can be employed. We plan to lay the foundation for the very much needed bridge.
It is a Joint Venture/Collaborative Network, specializing in cultural immersion, tourism, West African art and artifacts. By utilizing our “Affinity Excursion” programs, we ship art and artifacts to brokers and collectors worldwide, educating the African culture and traditions.
You are invited to come and learn by reconnecting with your Lost/Found family and friends that can be described as DA’ VILLAGE!
A MESSAGE FROM OUR MANAGER
Serigne “Mara” Diakhate is a native of Dakar, Senegal, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He is a world traveler, entrepreneur, and panAfricanist. Mara is also the CEO and founder of Da’ African Village which serves as “A bridge of togetherness” between the United States and Africa. His mission is to share the rich culture and traditions of West Africa with the rest of the world. He believes, “if a person does not know where he comes from, then he does not know where he is going”. This is why educating others by equipping them with the knowledge of the history, culture, and language of west Africa has become a part of his life’s work.
It is clear that multi-national corporations invigorate macro-level economic development. Such development, however, does not always reach the grassroots. Da’ African Village’s focus, therefore, is on the micro-level. Wherever possible, linkages are developed to promote job creation and sustainable micro-enterprise. Da’ African Village is conceived as a catalyst for locally based economic development. Organic, “bottom-up” processes are central to the application of Da’ African Village’s philosophy.
