Talking Wolof with Da'African Village

Talking Wolof with Da’African Village by Serigne “Mara” Diakhate was inspired by many years of serving as a tour guide and leading thousands of people from the United States and Europe through his homeland of Sénégal and other countries in West Africa including The Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Ghana, and Guinea. He has worked with the largest travel agencies and is well-known in the travel and tourism industry. He has guided celebrities such as Serena Williams, Jesse Jackson, Ky-Mani Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and many more. It was during this time that Mara realized the need to create a comprehensive book for those traveling abroad to communicate more effectively in efforts to connect with the people of West Africa.

Mara Imports and Traders

For the love of Africa!

In recent years, many West African artists who’ve had little to no success at home have often, to have a better life, braved the oceans through drastic measures to get to Europe. Unfortunately, thousands of talented craftsmen have lost their lives in search of sustainability.

When you support Mara Imports and Traders or our sister company, Africa Love, you are supporting an initiative to save countless lives each year. Under the leadership of CEO and Founder, Serigne Mara Diakhate, Mara Imports and Traders has established itself as a world-renowned distributor of fair-traded African imports. We go directly to the source!

Africa Love, with stores located in Las Vegas, NV and New Orleans, LA is a store that showcases all that we love about Africa. It is a collection of the best of what Africa has to offer by way of art, instruments, bags, baskets, clothing, sandals, and décor. By Africans, for the world.
